OUTFIT: "I don’t feel like dressing up."

I like big bows

That was what I said to my friend when we went out the other day. “I don’t feel like dressing up.”

Upon seeing her, the first thing she said was, “so, you said you didn’t feel like dressing up?”

I laughed.

After all, we were only going out for lunch.

I don’t know what got into me that day. The big bow on my head was probably the marriage between my deep-seated desire to dress like Carmen Miranda and my fondness for wearing head scarves/turbans. Oh, and not to forget, my Asian inclination for things that are big and … kawaii?

Scarf, earrings and sunnies were all thrifted in Sydney

But, in all seriousness, the 70s was in my mind when I put my outfit together that day. Notice the maxi dress; the turban-inspired headwear; the big, dangling earrings; the oversized angular sunnies. Hey, it’s the 70s with a modern, hipster twist.

Innit?
